One day, I came home from school just like normal.
I was hungry so I had a packet of smoky bacon crisps.
Then Dad came in.
He looked very serious.
He told me that Archie was very poorly, and that the vet
couldn’t save him.
Things aren’t the same anymore.
I'm not sure I've done it justice, but this is a copy, as accurately as I can remember, of a yr5 child's entry to the mini saga contest when I was at St A's. I read it and got that tingle down my spine; think it was something about the simplicity, and that final statement that made it so effective. The fact that I can remember it so clearly almost 2 years later tells its own story.
